This is the old Larsen Canning site on the corner of Broadway and Dousman. In 2006 the city assisted OBI (On Broadway
Incorporated) in the purchase of this 22 acre site with an eye on redevelopment. I sit on the 6 person board of directors.
Over the past few years the site has seen the following changes:
*All the old warehouses were torn down and over 97% of the metal, concrete and wiring etc was RECYCLED! This meant
less in the landfill and created revenue by selling the scrap.
*Pearl Street now extends to the north running by Titletown Brewery. It connnects to the future extension of Kellogg
Street.
*Vincent, Urban, Walker and Associates purchased and remodeled an old railroad building.
*Smet construction purchased the corner of Dousman/Broadway and constructed a new 3 story building. Sadly, Shopko
Express did not survive, however the Chamber of Commerce relocated from the east side and is located on the top floor.
*Most of the site has been leveled and seeded. It is actively being marketed as well as the remaining office buildings.
